Make Exercise Your New Year’s Resolution

New Year, New Beginnings and a New Start

2017 is here and with the New Year comes the chance for new beginnings and a fresh start. If you want to ring the changes with your New Year’s resolutions, one of the best things you can choose is to do more exercise.

Every year, coronary heart disease claims more women’s lives than breast cancer – and experts believe that eight out of ten cases could be prevented by adopting a healthier lifestyle. This is why Damart has joined forces with Heart Research UK to help our customers understand the risks associated with heart disease and encourage them to be more fit and active.

Our #LovingHearts survey spoke to more than 4,000 women like you and found that a massive 82% of those surveyed were doing less than the recommended 150 minutes of physical activity every week. In fact, only 11% were exceeding the guidelines. But after all the family dinners, mince pies and Christmas cake, there couldn’t be a better time to try to get out and do more.

Of course, the cold, wet weather and muddy paths mean that if you’re going to start doing more exercise in January, you’re going to need something that’s cosy, warm and easy to clean. Thankfully Damart has a huge range of comfortable leisurewear in sizes 10 to 28 that’s perfect for the job.

Items like our cosy cotton-mix jersey leisure jacket and matching trousers, combined with our comfy, flattering striped tunic, show that you don’t have to sacrifice style when you exercise. You can step out in style whether you’re taking a brisk stroll down to the shops, having a jog around the park or simply going for a walk with friends. While you may not be able to rely on the weather during these winter months, at least you know your wardrobe won’t let you down.

So get this year off to the best start and try to make you get two and a half hours’ activity in every week – it’s only about 20 minutes a day. And remember, while exercise is a huge step in the right direction, you can do a lot more to avoid heart disease. Things such as stopping smoking, eating a healthy diet and losing weight can all help you to live a healthier, happier longer life.
