Decorate your home for Christmas

How to Decorate Your Home at Christmas

Christmas is the most magical time of the year, and decorating your home is one of the best ways to get in the festive spirit. There’s no right or wrong way to do it – let your imagination run wild! Whether you prefer a minimalist approach or want to go all out, we’ve gathered some decorating ideas to help you ease into the holiday cheer in style.

1. Decorate your Christmas tree

Your Christmas tree will likely be the focus of your Christmas home décor. Choose a theme in your favourite colour palette and adorn your tree with baubles, ribbons, wooden ornaments and lights. You can divide it into three sections: top, middle and bottom. Style your tree from the top and work your way down to ensure your decorations are evenly distributed.

2. Hang a festive wreath

Christmas décor doesn’t have to be limited to indoors, and hanging a wreath on your front door is a great addition to your home’s exterior. Whether you prefer luscious winter foliage with red berries or a light-up wire star, creating a Christmas wreath is fun and festive.

3. Add some sparkle

It wouldn’t be Christmas without some sparkle! Set the scene with festive lights and shimmering garlands on the staircase to welcome your guests. If you have a fireplace, this is its time to shine. Adorn it with twinkling lights, baubles and LED-lit garlands to create a cheerful atmosphere.

4. Make a personalised advent calendar

Making a personalised advent calendar is a fun way to spend the days before Christmas and a great activity for the whole family. Choose mini treats for your little ones to pack in small boxes or paper bags numbered 1 to 24. Stash them under the tree or hang them with string to display your advent calendar.

5. Adorn your shelves

Make your shelves the focal point of your Christmas home décor by adorning them with candles, glass jars filled with red and white sweets or hand-crafted twig trees. You can repurpose tin cans and turn them into twinkling lanterns to place on your living room shelves. Shelves are also an ideal place to showcase your Christmas cards.

6. Make a Christmas-themed menu

Give your family and guests a taste of what’s to come on Christmas Day by creating a festive-themed menu. Display your menu on a blackboard or a piece of wood and frame it with foliage and fairy lights. This will add an extra-special touch to your Christmas decorations!

7. Get creative with your table centrepiece

Set the table in style by starting with the centrepiece. You can use leftover materials from making your wreath to create a simple yet impactful decoration. If you have a garden, you can pick your foliage from there. Fir, pine, yew, and ivy should be easy to find and make a statement centrepiece that will wow your guests. Arrange your greenery and add some sparkle and candles for the perfect finishing touch.

8. Create a cosy atmosphere with scented candles

Christmas candles and fragrances add warmth to your Christmas home décor. Festive scents often blend notes of cinnamon, mandarin, clove and pine, creating a cosy atmosphere.

9. Design a bauble chandelier

Looking for the perfect hanging decoration for your hallway? Create a bauble chandelier to make a statement. You can use plastic hula hoops as your base and paint them in your favourite festive colours. Attach some baubles and LED lights, and suspend your chandelier from the ceiling with string.

10. Keep warm with Christmas throws

Christmas throws are an essential addition to your festive décor, perfect for keeping warm and cosy. Whether watching a Christmas movie with your family, drinking tea or reading a book, snuggle up to our patterned festive throws.
