Head to our Christmas Shop. There’s a gorgeous range scarves and pampering sets in our Gifts for Her pages. Or choose from gloves and socks, Pyjamas and gadgets for him. Already stocked up and raring to go? We’ve got a few tips to make those gifts look irresistibly festive. So here goes:

6 quick tips

Get the cat or the dog out of the room. Any shenanigans around wrapping paper and Sellotape is fun for them. Not so good for you.

Make sure you have enough of everything you need. Here’s a check list: Sellotape. Wrapping paper. Gift tags and a pen. Bows. Ribbons. Scissors.

Always take the price tags off. Or use a marker pen to blank it out if you can’t peel it off.

Wrap presents then add the gift tag straight away. That way you avoid the disaster of getting your gifts mixed up and everyone can enjoy the right present.

Always have a few extra boxes of biscuits or tins of sweets handy and wrapped, just in case anyone unexpectedly turns up with a gift for you.

Get comfy. Pop on the Christmas tunes, grab a drink, wear your cosy clothes and start wrapping in peace. The more relaxed you are, the more you’ll actually have fun! Maybe.

How to wrap a tube shape

Presents this shape like sweets or perfume can be a doddle. Work on a flat surface. Place your gift on the paper and roll it up, so the present is covered and there’s a slight overlap and stick it down. For the length, your paper should be about 7 cm longer than the present at both ends. Gather the paper at one end and tie it with the ribbon to make one end of the cracker. Do the same at the other end and that’s it. Done. Pop a gift tag on it and Bob’s your uncle.

Just like making the cracker, roll the bottle in the wrapping paper and Sellotape the overlap. Have at least 10cm extra length at the top of the bottle and about 4cm at the bottom. Fold the bottom paper into the centre of the bottle and keep going round until the all the paper’s folded in. Fix it with a bit of tape. Then at the top of the bottle squidge the paper together like the cracker ends and tie with a bow. Add your tag and it’s good to go.

Make it easy for yourself

If wrapping isn’t your thing, why not go simple? Buy some paper bags, pop your pressie inside and cover in coloured tissue paper. Add a ribbon. You could also pop a sprig of Christmas foliage, cinnamon sticks or striped straws on there for a festive feel.
