COAT TALES….. If you only buy one thing this season make it a fabulous Winter coat. Instantly refreshes your wardrobe and updates your look. This is our pick of the best winter coats to buy right now.

It took all of five minutes to decide that this mood boosting sunshine yellow coat needed to be in my wardrobe. Single breasted (good if you are busty), knee length (instantly cooler) and lightweight (perfect for British weather and our female temperature fluctuations!) this masculine styled coat is the perfect Autumn wardrobe update.
TIP: Layer a down filled gilet underneath when it’s colder for added warmth and to get that stylish layered look.

Big and boxy with ‘borrowed from the boys’ styling this coat made it onto my Shortlist because it’s a standout piece. That means it updates all my basics and gets me all the compliments. I would throw it on over a navy sloppy sweater and track pants for park life style or like here dress it up with skinny jeans, a pop of mustard and a pair of Autumns new ballerinas for a day out with the girls.
TIP: A boxy shape in a strong (but not loud) pattern hides any figure flaws. Just keep your bottom half slim.

Feeling good is as important as looking good and this sugar pink teddy coat just oozes the feel good factor. It’s one of those items of clothing that will take you anywhere. Why? Because it adds a touch of luxury to a simple pair of jeans and pumps and is special enough to wrap around a black party dress and heels.
TIP: Don’t add bulk by layering thick fabrics underneath – this coat is warm enough!

Tweeds & checks are the big fashion story this season and this Prince of Wales check coat is a simple way to introduce the trend into your wardrobe. Easy to wear, this simply cut coat is flattering as it skims over the body and makes its own statement without drawing attention to your figure flaws. Watch it smarten your hoody and jog pants and add a touch of style to simple jeans and sweaters.
TIP: Black and white is an easy colour combination to add to pastels, neutrals and brights.

For an instant shot of glamour this fur collared check coat with its delightful shades of pink and grey fulfills the brief. But it’s versatility lies in the fact that once the detachable collar is off the coat transforms into a cool and modern Winter layer for jeans, cargo pants and joggers. For a look that says polished I’ve teamed the coat with a rose stretch scarf top, a burgundy pvc pencil skirt and snakeskin heels.
TIP: Avoid longer length dresses or skirts with a coat that hits mid-thigh, the proportions will look wrong.
